Over the past two decades, awareness of the positive effects of art on health and well-being has grown significantly. According to the World Health Organization, creative practices – whether active or receptive – can enhance resilience, support healing processes, and improve quality of life on multiple levels.
With Healing Arts, the Arts & Medicine Network at Charité Berlin continues its successful interdisciplinary lecture series in cooperation with the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). Starting in May 2025, the new edition opens up space for an expanded dialogue on healing as a cultural practice.
In five curated sessions, moderated by curator and educator Lukas Feireiss, the series brings together perspectives from neuroscience, ethnomedicine, gender studies, performance, and public health. Together, they ask: How can artistic and scientific approaches open new paths for transformation? What emerges when care becomes method and the body a site of insight?
Healing Arts is open to students, researchers, and the general public. The series invites collective reflection on the future of health, healing, and cultural practice.
The lectures will be held in English.
