Cultural education and aesthetic practice are – in research, teaching and practice – directly integrated into social contexts.The massive political, ecological, economic, cultural and technological upheavals of our time lead to insecurities, resistance and polarization, among other things. They are associated with trends towards de-democratization and political radicalization as well as the emergence of social and violent conflicts. These developments pose a major challenge to the various fields of cultural education, e.g. social work, cultural work, media education, child and youth work, formal education, socioculture, adult education, cultural education, etc. The network conference at our Faculty of Arts, Health and Social Science of the Medical School Hamburg is dedicated to this content.
